Welcome to St. Louis The 43rd Annual Silicon Symposium will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, and will be hosted by the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
The Landing Laclede's Landing, named for Pierre Laclede, St. Louis' French founder, is a vibrant entertainment district just north of the Gateway Arch along the Mississippi River. Once the hub of river trade where fur trappers rendezvoused, music now echoes off the Landing's cobblestone streets, and restaurants, music clubs and shops fill the former warehouses that once held tobacco, cotton and other products brought to St. Louis by steamboats.
Kiener Plaza Sitting in the heart of downtown St. Louis, Kiener Plaza and the Morton D. May Memorial Amphitheater command a dramatic view of the Old Court House and the Gateway Arch. The park’s centerpiece is a pool and fountain containing a statue known as “The Runner”. Kiener Plaza is host to countless St. Louis Cardinal, Ram and Blues rallies and victory celebrations.
The Old Court House The historic Old Courthouse, part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis, was the site of the Dred Scott slavery trials. Visitors can tour the National Park Service site daily.
St. Louis Skyline The historic Eads Bridge spans the Mississippi River at St. Louis. Built in 1874 to accommodate carriages, pedestrians and steam trains, the bridge now carries St. Louis’ Metrolink light rail system which connects many of the community’s major attractions.

Welcome

Welcome to the 43rd Silicon Symposium

It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 43rd Silicon Symposium in St. Louis on May 20-22, 2010.  This meeting is the 43rd meeting in the series of the well-established annual international symposium attended by academic and industrial scientists who research all aspects of silicon chemistry.  The organizing committee for the 43rd Silicon Symposium will aim to provide an excellent venue and occasion for scientists to present their research findings, communicate, and network with other chemists in the field.

Abstract Submission

The Silicon Symposium welcomes submissions from any area of silicon chemistry.  Here are examples of some of the research areas:

  • Synthesis of organosilicon containing compounds
  • Inorganic and organometallic chemistry of silicon
  • Silicon-based materials, polymers, and surface chemistry
  • Reactive silicon intermediates
  • Theory, calculations, and physical chemistry of silicon systems
  • Mechanistic studies and catalysis of silicon-based compounds
  • Biosilicon chemistry
  • Spectroscopic studies of silicon compounds
  • Sustainability/green chemistry involving silicon-based systems
